Boehner Bows to Tea Party's Anti-Obamacare Spending Bill
Bad news for anybody hoping to avoid another budget crisis: Late Tuesday afternoon, National Reviews Robert Costa broke the news that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will cave to the Republican Partys right wing and introduce a continuing resolution that strips funding for Obamacare. Senate Democrats will block this, and then well, nobody knows for sure. If somebody doesnt figure out something by Sept. 30, the government will shut down.

Government shutdown moves closer to reality
The threat of a government shutdown intensified Tuesday as House Republican leaders moved toward stripping funding from President Obamas landmark health-care initiative and setting up a stalemate with the Democratic Senate.
House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) had hoped to keep the government open past Sept. 30 with relatively little fuss. But roughly 40 conservatives revolted. After a strategy session Tuesday, Boehner and his leadership team were being pushed into a more confrontational strategy that would fund the government into the new fiscal year only if Democrats agreed to undermine Obamas signature legislative achievement.
Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) have ruled that out, leaving the parties hurtling toward an apparent impasse.

(21,115 posts)they are going to shut it down and try to say "Obama did it"....that it is he and not them that wants to see that. There are some here on DU that will jump on that bandwagon should it happen I think...

Enough is enough. In their efforts to serve the GOP stakeholders, republicans have become little more than terrorists.
The kindest I can say of them is that they are lowlife hostage takers. No better than the crazed Iranians that held diplomats hostage.
We should follow our own rules for negotiating whit hostage takers.
It is time to call their bluff and make dam sure they get the blame for any damage done.

(111,052 posts)If both the House and Senate passed it, the President could veto it and it would go back to the House to be fixed. However, the Senate won't agree with the House and it will continue to be about Harry Reid and the Senate preventing the House from doing its duty.
Seems to me either the dems capitulate (unlikely) or Orangeman throws in the towel and just says "Nancy, see if you can cobble together something". If we are lucky we will see a complete fracturing of the repubs.
What I fear is that they will fund some parts of the government, like the military, but hold other parts hostage. I could see the Senate going along with that.
