Republicans admit it: they want to “regulate” your “sexual relationships”.

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/19/republicans-admit-it-they-want-to-regulate-your-sexual-relationships/

Snips:
"And they say government has the right to do so. In this link, the “Republican” government of Michigan says it straight out, with no shame or moderation:

“One of the paramount purposes of marriage in Michigan — and at least 37 other states that define marriage as a union between a man and a woman — is, and has always been, to regulate sexual relationships between men and women so that the unique procreative capacity of such relationships benefits rather than harms society.”

Got that? They are saying that they have the right to be bedroom police. And this is not some random pundit flapping his yap; this is an official court filing by attorneys for the state of Michigan. (Never mind that the Constitution says nothing at all about Government having such power.)

Even the most Leftish of all Liberal Dems haven’t been THAT f***ing intrusive (pun intended). And these ”Republicans” say that they are in favor of smaller government??? Bulls***. It doesn’t get more Big Brother than monitoring our bedrooms."

More at the above link, including a link to the actual court filing.

I saw this first on DU: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023694246 and decided to throw it out to the Blogosphere at large. Thanks to bearssoapbox!

It's shocking how right wing the Michigan Legislature is, thanks to redistricting and Koch-affiliated money. I can't believe a backlash isn't coming from an historically progressive state.

so many people, there wouldn't be so many in jail, in foster care, so many in need, etc. All current tax laws encourage procreation even when 'a man and a woman' do not have the resources to provide for the result and 'society' picks up the tab.

Why don't progressives demand chromosome tests to get marriage certificates? There are a percentage of women with XXY and men with XYY probably. They aren't by definition women (XX) or men (XY). Further they should have to pass fertility tests. Also if no children are produced within say three years, the marriage is dissolved and the two people are never allowed to marry again. Also, no Viagra type drugs should be allowed. If you can't get it up, God probably didn't want you to have children. You just have to play their game.

So as to be sure they are truly heterosexual and can perform procreative acts.

This could be fun...

It's not like what happens in corporate boardrooms which is frankly nobody's business. I mean that stuff that they do in those boardrooms has no real effect on society - not like what people do in their bedrooms.

Can't have you "harming society" by exercising your right not to have children.

Or are they suggesting children raised by homosexual couples "harm society"? I can't think of a single mass murderer or domestic terrorist raised by a homosexual couple.

I can't tell what the hell they're getting at. Their mastery of the English language is as good as their ability to create sane policy.

This fucking state, I swear.

Remember Jimmy Carter? Truth is you can't obsess on something, try to legislate it, describe it, and use force to enforce it without significant thoughts and mental views of something or someone invading bedrooms...women's vaginas...or gay men's behinds. It's a RW male fixation, which is why so many of them are caught with porn or gay lovers or ??? That includes the "pulpiteers" as Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggert, among many others. I've seen the list ... it's long and still it was only those who were caught or accused.

In essence, they fear their own demons (as they think of them) and struggle to control them vicariously in others.
