Peers - "A grassroots movement that supports the sharing economy movement."
This is an interesting sounding organization - Peers. From their webpage: "The sharing economy is helping us pay the bills, work flexible hours, meet new people or spend more time with our families. We think its how the 21st century economy should work, so were coming together to grow, mainstream and protect the sharing economy."
We share our cars, homes, skills and time. Sharing creates new value, giving us more flexibility and extra income.
We access the things we need rather than buying them. Consuming directly from people we can trust is more affordable, more social, and less wasteful.
We educate our peers and community leaders about the benefits of sharing. Together, we can help protect and grow the sharing economy. Our strength is in numbers.
Although it will likely be argued that Facebook or Craigslist could accomplish the same thing and target a much larger audience, neither is specifically set up to do so. I haven't seen any discussion of Peers or of the 'Sharing Economy' on DU, but it seems like something that would appeal greatly here. Thoughts?
