Female anchor confronts Ron Paul over plan for women to quit work en masse and home school

By David Edwards - September 19, 2013

BBC anchor Katty Kay on Thursday asked former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) if his libertarian plan to have 20 percent of children home schooled made sense because so many women would have to drop out of the work force, but the former congressman insisted that even a woman living at a shelter with two jobs could find a way to do it if she worked hard enough.

During an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to promote his book, The School Revolution, Paul said he wanted to offer families an education alternative that emphasized “the importance of the individual versus, you know, everybody coming together.”

“I want people to be able to home school their children,” he remarked. “Not everybody, this is designed to pick out the leaders who want to. And maybe 20 percent might be interested in doing this. But these would be leaders who would be talking about running for Congress and understand why the Federal Reserve is a problem...”

“There’s going to be choices to be made and some people will go out of their way for their children,” he continued. “I saw an article yesterday of a woman working two jobs and she was living in a shelter and she couldn’t pay her bills because her cost of living goes up much faster than wages. That’s another characteristic of this monetary system. So, that is a consequence, why they have to work.”

“But if people really want to get it done, they can.”

Watch the (embedded) video below from MSNBC’s Morning Joe, broadcast Sept. 19, 2013:

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/09/19/female-anchor-confronts-ron-paul-over-plan-for-women-to-quit-work-en-masse-and-home-school/

The reason for the attack on women's rights outside the home, their education, wages and health care to determine when to have a family is right there. Be barefoot and pregnant at home and take care of the children the husband demands of you and don't complain if you're abused.

If a woman can't carry to term and dies, well, it's Gawd's Will©. And they'd better keep busy at home, because there won't be any place for them and their kids but slave labor.

This is the GOP job plan for Americans. Remove women from the work force, permanently, to live under the whim of their spouse, no matter if he's a good husband or not. It's all a woman is good for?

Libertarianism is not about civil liberties. It's right wing and fascist. And I'm sure this thread showing the face of the Pauls and their ideological pals will sink like a stone. Meh. You were warned, America.

What a prick that guy is.

As for Ayn Rand, she's a dick in a dress, as a woman friend once said of someone she didn't like. It was a memorable phrase I've never had occasion to use before, but there you have it. Ron Paul, his plan for our future, and his fountainhead of ideas.

He is a libertarian, a civil libertarian.

To me, the more i think about it, when it comes to Ron Paul, it is paulism, a form of Christian theocracy, mixed with fascism, and a few moments of truly struck clock is right moments, which appeal to the young. And yes, right wing populism.

What he also has, having covered a rally of his, is charisma. He exudes it in person. I hope his son does not. Yup, that was the thing that struck a pretty cynical media gaggle, the charisma. I thank the gods he is in his 80s and not in his 40s.

This right here is the major difference between true Revolutionaries and "libertarians". Libertarians are not concerned with creating a truly equal society And better world for all. Their opposition to war is not based on any concern for the loss of human lives, but ok selfishness. Libertarians are not revolutionary in the least.

Of course it's the woman's job according to Ronnie. The old white men of the GOP would like nothing better than to have women leave the workforce. We frighten them. They want us out and they want us to shut the hell up. They sure as hell do not want us to vote! We terrify them, freshwest. That is the whole point of their war on women, they want us under their control. That is not going to happen!

As for homeschooling, I don't know much about it. However it seems to me that they want a one sided approach to a child's education. The parents ideals and not a world view. How can a child enrich themselves without opposing views. How can a child develop and expand their views without an interaction with other children and teachers.

And maybe 20 percent might be interested in doing this. But these would be leaders who would be talking about running for Congress

What is Ron Paul advocating exactly, a generation of mindless robots, a superior race?

What ever his ulterior motive is, it sure as hell does not bode well for this country. He wants something that is nowhere near his simplistic explanation and that most certainly should scare the hell out of everyone.

Excellent OP, thank you, freshwest.

when I was a little kid and I heard about home-schooling for the first time while watching a South Park episode, I was all excited about it. I thought it would be cool to not have to leave my house and to never get into contact with any more bullying, but my parents refused to let me do it. At first, I thought they were just being mean, but I learned over the years that home-schooling isn't all it is cracked up to be. For starters, a home-schooled child isn't going to make nearly as many friends, or even have as much contact with people from different backgrounds. Secondly, it is a tall order to lay on one (or both parents) to teach their child all there is to know about math, science, and other basic subjects. Plus there won't be any electives to choose from; no P.E., no music classes, and no Spanish, or no extra-curricular sports in case if the child ever wanted to pursue a career as a pro athlete.

So yeah...I would not advise women quitting their jobs and taking up home-schooling.

leaving the workforce to homeschool? And you cannot expect that all parents (mother or father) are capable of providing their children with a thorough enough education. You must first have parents who themselves have received a decent education in order for them to be able to homeschool theird children. And what about the nuts who don't believe in science and are only interested in teaching a bibical based education?

Last but not least, I caught an episode of Wife Swap where one couple viewed school as a form of prison and their idea of homeschooling was to let their children figure out what they wanted to learn. The daughter was slowly teaching herself to read and you could tell that she was way behind the reading level that she should have been at for her age. Even if a child has no desire to go to college, he/she should have at least have an adequate baseline of education before they go out in the real world.

Let's not forget why Ron Paul is anti abortion as well. There is a real fear some White men have that the race is going extinct, and of course, they blame all the gays and those uppity women that refuse to keep breeding the next generation of white male leaders and breeding stock.

http://consortiumnews.com/2013/06/27/the-marriage-of-libertarians-and-racists/

So making women into breeding stock is a win-win for them, it keeps working families poor, makes them more dependent on churches, ruins education, and gives them more serfs to exploit.
