Watchdog gets 'declaration' from Syria regarding chemical weapons

Syria has submitted a "declaration" regarding its chemical weapons stockpiles, a spokesman for the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said on Friday, and the group is expecting the government to submit more information in the next day or two.

The group's executive council, which was to meet Sunday, has postponed the meeting until sometime next week, said spokesman Michael Luhan, because "more time is needed to prepare draft documents and draft decisions."

Syria is expected to hand over a list of its chemical arms stockpile this weekend, a spokesman for the world's chemical weapons watchdog told CNN on Friday.

This list should be available as the group, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, sits down Sunday at The Hague, Netherlands, to discuss Syria, said Michael Luhan, a spokesman for the group.
