Polls: Democrats and Republicans Both Oppose Core Government Policy as Helping Fatcats While Hurting the Little Guyhttp://www.washingtonsblog.com/2013/09/polls-show-that-americans-increasingly-dislike-obamas-core-policies.html
"SNIP....................................
Specifically, Americans:
◾Oppose Obamacare by a 45 percent to 23 percent margin
◾Believe by a 70 percent to 30 percent margin that big banks and corporations rather than average Americans have benefited most from Obamas economic policies. 2 years ago, 74% thought that the bailouts helped Wall Street more than the people
◾Want to break up the big banks
◾Overwhelmingly want the government to get tougher on prosecuting Wall Street fraud

(12,081 posts)brought by the republicans is that right now people are just more focused on jobs and wages. I know democrats meant well by concentrating on health care first, but if you can't pay for food or rent going to the doctor isn't even on your to do list. And when you can't buy food or rent, buying mandatory insurance certainly isn't on your list. And I know there will be subsidies, but for many it will still be cheaper to just pay the penalty for not having insurance. I have private insurance. I don't like the $925/month premium. In fact, I hate it. It is difficult to pay it. But I can pay it. Getting insurance through the exchange will probably reduce my premium through subsidies. But for those who currently don't have insurance and are struggling to pay for rent and groceries, adding mandatory insurance onto their list of financial obligations isn't helpful. Now ACA is law. This is happening and people will either have to buy the insurance or pay the penalty. It's done. It's happening. So, now what the democrats need to do is fight for living wage so that people can pay for that insurance and for their rent and for their groceries.
