George Zimmerman is in hiding now to avoid being served with the divorce papers that Shellie filed -- which is hindering the proceedings and therefore putting a damper on her plans to end their marriage. This act of cowardice just goes to show how pathetic this can can be, but it's not at all surprising. What could you expect from a man who shot dead a 17-year-old unarmed teenager? Someone like this isn't man enough to face responsibilities in life -- such as signing divorce papers to end a marriage his wife wants nothing more to do with.
George's family claims that he is okay and in contact with them, but they don't know where he is -- but who knows if they're even tellign the truth? This family notoriously sticks together, even if it means degrading a dead teenager's name and family, but of course Zimmy had to get his personality traits from somewhere, right?
There's a theory that can be shared regarding Zimmerman's decision to go into hiding. Perhaps police in Lake Mary are going to find something on Shellie's iPad that indicates he is to blame for the attack that took place? The risk of being labeled a repeat violent offender -- with guns -- is probably enough to make him want to go into hiding, on top of losing his wife to his own stupidity, bad temper and inability to cope with real life situations.

(3,003 posts)He's retreated to a dark cave.
He's in the corner. Sucking his thumb. Thinking about the good old days, back when he got away with killing a child.

Course they may be tired of him, too.
I hope they find something on that iPad. And, I wish Shellie well.

(11,175 posts)His best course would be to cooperate fully, accept service of process, and try to negotiate a settlement on the terms of the divorce. The last thing he should be doing is getting her even more angry at him.
Of course, I'm talking about the rational approach for someone in his situation, and we have reason to believe that he's not all that big on finding a rational approach.

(203 posts)What a surprise, Zimmerman is getting divorced. During these debates about his guilt, my main point centered around the fact it is a fine line when dealing with the neighborhood watch personality. Typically the neighborhood watch personality is a fearful person who feels the police have not provided adequate protection, so they feel the need to play "police helper". Mainly because they were not popular in high school or could not make the football team. So now they fight crime, in their spare time of course. Mainly due to the fact they cannot pass the mental or physical evaluation involved in becoming an actual officer. This is not the person we want "protecting" your community. The fact is had Zimmerman been an officer he would have had the training necessary to confront Trayvon, but he did not and we see the result.
This divorce only proves he was in fact not a stable solid member of the community then or now. Good luck Mrs. Zimmerman.
