But that's what the media is spinning.
Radaronline (don't even bother saying "That Rag" just talking spin here) says:

The truth comes from an interesting, yet very lengthy New York Magazine article about Hillary, published yesterday, entitled "Hillary Midair"

(59,498 posts)Neither are direct quotes from either Hillary or Huma. However, given the content - they likely would not be - even if there were some truth. I suspect that in ANY Presidential runner, the ONLY person totally defended is the nominee - and obviously her family. They are the only indispensable people.
Huma has been a long term aide, who is obviously very close to HRC. However, if she is a major liability, it is both their interests to part amicably - and in this case it is easy, Huma could simply not be part of the campaign and she can then join the administration if there is a good role for her.

(42,770 posts)an aide. Yes, Hillary could have told the aide and that's where the aide got the idea from....but guess we will
never know.
Huma should have definitely talked Anthony out of running. It was incredibly stupid instinct. He may have thought it cleared the air, his running, but it only permanently cemented his caricature in the whole world's mind.

(59,498 posts)BOTH articles could have been conjecture and they were not the only ones mentioning it. Some pretended no inside information - just noting that the "similarities" of their situations made things awkward. Now, first, if the similarity is having a cheating spouse or being one, they may have to eliminate many people. Not to mention, even with only squeaky clean people, people will remember Bill Clinton and consider what effect if any that should have. (2008 did not seem to balance on whether people thought BC was a good spouse.)
Here the first reports - from an unnamed source that Hillary gave her that choice. The second attributes essentially the same thing to an aide - saying Huma has to chose. The second does not say that Hillary made that decision, but it does suggest that it is the feeling of those around Hillary. There is a subtle difference - and you can read the second as meaning that that did not come from HRC.
