I would wager if someone started a poll here at D.U. the average and probably median age of the people on this website would be in their 40s.
Sometimes it seems too many D.U.ers have fallen for the corporate media brainwashing as to the stereotype of what constitutes the demographic makeup of political websites.
Generally speaking the highest demographic of politically active people in the U.S. are at least 40 years old if not if not older.

(23,325 posts)I had to Google "Sister Bertrille".
Flying Nun, eh? Somehow I missed that entire series. But, then, the late sixties and early seventies are something of a blur in my memory, can't imagine why.

The people were becoming too aware to digest corporate media pablum.
What Williams, the Washington Post and no doubt other members of the corporate media failed to recognize or admit is that posters on the Internet are the American People.

Frankly, I believe they're more concerned about the cruelty and malice toward their own bottom line, and loss of influences as they feel increasingly threatened by the Internet. They're just taking a page from Karl Rove's book as he gave a recent speech against Internet anonymity. I believe he had something against CIA anonymity as well, when it differed with the neocon's fallacious agenda. Brian Williams labels Internet Bloggers as Vinnie in a bath robe in his mom's basement and the Washington Post starts goose stepping in unison stereotyping people on the Internet as the same. I'm sure they would love nothing more than to throw the baby out with the bath water. I haven't seen an apology from them yet for slandering Al Gore for so long, of course they didn't need to do it anonymously, as they combined with the majority of the rest of the corporate media had the one way megaphone and the money on their side to attack the messenger, they didn't need facts or truth to attack the message. I believe it's the political message they're afraid of rather than the rough and tumble nature of the Internet.
P.S. Here is a recent example of what I believe the Washington Post hates about the Internet.

I suspected as much - but I'm betting it's male, white, 40 and older.

(16,835 posts)I'm probably close to the median age; it's maybe a little higher than that. Younger people might not have the patience for DU. They text each other all the time and use other media that puts them in touch with their friends almost immediately. DU is probably too slow for them.
