GPD: Bystanders knock out woman's attacker, take knife

GREENVILLE, N.C. —An Upstate man is in critical condition after several bystanders disarmed him and knocked him out after he attacked a college student in North Carolina, according to police.
Greenville, N.C. police said East Carolina University student, Rachel Cooper, 21, was walking home Sunday morning from downtown after bars closed on Fourth Street when she was assaulted by a man with a pocket knife. Police said when Cooper screamed for help as she tried to fight off her attacker, several bystanders came to her aid, taking the knife and knocking the man unconscious.

Hollingsworth is hospitalized in critical condition, according to WITN-Greenville, N.C. Police say once he is released, Hollingsworth will charged and taken into custody.
Cooper, who suffered several cuts on her upper body, was treated and released.
