(20,277 posts)I didn't think rolling my eyes was judgemental. But I guess you have judged it so.
The magazine article in the OP is about men. If the article was about women, I wouldn't expect men to be included.
edit to add - Esquire is a MEN'S magazine.

(114,904 posts)So a Ms. article about prominent women should have the men "behind each women"?
try to use some brain cells to, you know, think.
LaydeeBug
(10,291 posts)at hyperbole, but behind every man...there is a woman...
Or something like that.

(20,219 posts)an encyclopedic look at "HAWTNESS and the American female"
be assured, there will be nowhere near the age, intellect, accomplishments, and looks diversity that characterizes such a collection of men. Few if any would be portrait, the way men are generally photographed. The photos would be full or upper body, as are most images of women in our society. Breasts are important.
Thanks to more racial inclusiveness in popular media, I would expect to see a racial spectrum. That's good.
But they'll still have to be "HAWT".

(114,904 posts)And you do realize that there are similar articles about women, right.
Sometimes I really wonder.

(429 posts)And when women do appear on the cover of Esquire they are highly sexualized. Though they did hire Gloria Steinem in the early sixties, the magazine has not evolved when it comes to women. According to their U.K. editor , Alan Bilmes women are ornaments. Here are a few quotes.
That is how we see them. "I could lie to you and say they're interested in their brains as well, but on the whole, we're not, he said. They're there to be beautiful objects. They're objectified. The women that we feature in the magazine are ornamental."
Mr. Bilmes also considers a woman of 40 old.
