Joe Lhota: Bill de Blasio’s ‘Marxist playbook’
New York mayoral hopeful Joe Lhota is pinning the Communist label on Democrat Bill de Blasio, saying his campaign comes from the Marxist playbook.
A statement released by Lhota on Monday called for de Blasio to explain his work in Nicaragua in the 80s, the subject of a New York Times piece on Tuesday.
Bill de Blasio needs to explain himself and explain himself now to the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who escaped Marxist tyranny in Asia, Central America, and from behind the Iron Curtain in Eastern Europe, Lhota said in the statement. n a television interview Tuesday, de Blasio repeated he was a proud progressive and said he was proud of his work in Nicaragua, even though U.S. policies at the time were against the revolutionaries.
I think the U.S. policies at the time were wrong. And by the way, this is something Ive been very open about for years. I was very proud to be involved in that work because I think the United States for example funding the Contra forces in Central America, intervening in other countries, I think that was bad policy, de Blasio told PIX11 in New York.
