Joey Scum is pathetic.
Says he's from the South and he knows there's not a racist element to the dislike of President Obama.
Cokie says she's from the South and "yes there is".

he's black is what makes the hatred so intense. Sure, they hated Clinton too, but the hatred was not nearly as hot and as deep as it is for Obama.

There are some far RW radio personalities and such who are people of color.

from the Democrats. If Powell had run as a Republican, they might have gotten the black vote, or a good percentage. But he's probably the only black man who could do that. The white racists found him acceptable because of his military service, but very few people could get both the white racists and large numbers of black people to vote for him.

Was able to get elected in the deep south (Louisiana) as a Republican/Tea Party candidate while looking like this:

After the last election there were some calling him one of the front runners for the 2016 presidential primaries and he might still run.

It's a black and white world to racists in the South. You can only be one or the other, so it's perfectly acceptable for a white person to marry a Japanese or Indian person, but not a black person. Racists down here basically have a phobia against black people. Things have changed some regarding Muslims since 9/11, so they hate Muslims too, or really anyone not Christian. But Jindal's a Christian, so they don't have to worry about that.

I was lumping all the racists together where you could be considered a "race traitor" if the other person wasn't white.

Growing up in a still very racist town I was the dark skinned girl it was OK for the white boys to date.

"Shes an Indian" or something similar were always the first words from their mothers mouth whenever we were out in public and they ran into somebody they new.

I didn't catch on as much then, I was naive and took it as a sort of bragging, but now in retrospect I see it as what it really was.

Southerners had a lot of paradoxes to deal with in order to justify the apartheid system that was in place for so long. In many ways, there's still a kind of social apartheid. I wonder if that will ever go away.

The only reason they haven't gone after Obama's family is because they know it would cause a backlash. Everybody is more careful about talking about the President's kids these days, and that's mostly because the Clintons set some rules about it back then. I doubt we'll see anything like what they did to Chelsea happen again.
