OBAMACARE: "This THING Is Going To Work"

The rates are in

Health and Human Services has released the rates for the federally run Exchange marketplaces in 36 states. They are really good:

http://aspe.hhs.gov/health/reports/2013/MarketplacePremiums/ib_marketplace_premiums.cfm

Here are the big take-aways:

$145 a month for the cheapest Bronze plan for a 27 year old making $25,000 a year is definately affordable

Family coverage at either 2nd cheapest Silver or cheapest Bronze is extraordinarily affordable –

Competition does wonders

Networks matter, some pricing will be higher in outlier counties compared to core counties.

This thing is going to work.

Vindication: Obamacare Average Family Premium at $95

TAKE THAT MR. CRUZ!!!

Today, the HHS released data on health insurance exchanges under the Affordable Care Act that shows premiums coming in well below previous estimates. 16% below estimates, on average. And that's before subsidies kick in for the vast majority of those who will use the marketplaces to buy insurance. The average cost of the mid-tier plans on which subsidies are based will be $328 before the subsidies, and it drops to $249 before the subsidies for the cheapest "Bronze" plans.

Great Chart & More Here:

And once this is seen as a good thing, the teabaggers will be removed from the premises thanks to the votes of a healthy majority of voters.

health insurance for less than your cell phone bill. My cell phone bill is $60 a month. My supplement to my Medicare is $200 a month and only pays 20% of my medical bills? Why can't seniors get the same thing?

That's what I learned while researching my mothers' needs when she was hospitalized.

Her Medicaid premium is about the same as yours.

But also my senior friends, who do get it, find it hard to find a doctor that will take them. Most doctors in my area take Medicare plus a supplement. But none will take the Medicare/medic-cal combo or Medicare Advantage programs.

the only changes to Medicare are the cuts to the Medicare Advantage plans, which IMHO should be ended altogether. They privatize what should be a single payer plan and weaken it by draining money from it into the Wall Street deep pockets.

Is this to pay for the lower premiums via the exchange? Will this trend continue or is there a limit?

lots of Americans before it is forced to comply with the ACA come January 2014. The rise in premiums has nothing to do with ACA directly. The insurance companies want consumers to pay before THEY have to comply.

They know that they now will have to spend between 80-85 cents of every $1 to for actual health care coverage and nothing else. Not salaries. Not advertisements. Not bonuses. They actually have to insure people. That's something that they were not doing before the ACA.

Things are going to change after this law goes into full effect come January 2014.

doesn't even go into full effect until January 2014. Therefore, if insurance companies are milking companies, they are doing so because they are taking advantage of the American people, not because Obamacare has been implemented. It hasn't.
