I'm disgusted.

Last edited Thu Sep 26, 2013, 07:22 AM - Edit history (1)

Ted Cruz got all this ink today? He's a know-nothing, do-nothing piece of feces, and got all this attention? This doesn't bode well for Yale and Harvard educations, or whatever he claims he has. Why did he think this would be a good thing?

Ugh. So much time has been wasted on this POS.

Edit very belatedly to add: my gripe is with the totality of the rethugs. Not a single one of them has a viable alternative to Obamacare, yet we rarely hear about that, or them. Instead we get this guy torturing us, basically taking the heat off of them. Maybe my gripe is really with the m$m.

I remember bits and pieces of stories over the years that illustrated how in love with Repubs the media has been. It's partly why I stopped watching TV.

Limbaugh and his ilk rant about the "liberal media" and how "persecuted" they supposedly are, and rapturously praise Fux Noise for being a "beacon of truth."

What they well know, but will never admit:

The U.S. media is controlled by corporate conglomerates.

Corporate conglomerates tend to overwhelmingly support politicians/parties that will serve their desires: more wealth, less regulation, less taxation.

I grew up during the Reagan years. I remember well the commentary from mainstream journos waxing eloquently about "The Great Communicator."

I get most of my news from overseas: Australian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC, BBC, Deutsche Welle.

Very rarely do I watch "news" from U.S. sources anymore.

He got all the US corp media slobbering(because that's what they do.. if you don't believe me ask Chuck Todd).. over him but he exposed himself as one of those "highly educated" people who doesn't know when to sit down and shut up. As witnessed by the "21 hour booze cruz" ..

Nerdy Wonka @NerdyWonka

Green Eggs and Ham is about hating something, trying it, and finding out you like it.

Thanks @TedCruz for selling #ObamaCare to Americans

Rachel Maddow opened with a lengthy lead-in but came to an interesting conclusion as to why he did it and what he thinks he's gained by it... martyrdom that he can take to the bank, essentially, and get the rest of the (r) cabal off the hook for the gov't shut down that he has now made inevitable by wasting 20+ hours flapping his pie hole.

Mind you, this was not necessarily what they were saying, but rather his own conclusions.

#1 -- DH believes that contrary to what we may in our disgust want to believe, the man is very intelligent. He's argued not one but nine cases before the Supreme Court. He graduated cum laude from Princeton. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard. Unlike Dubya, Cruz did not ever aim for a "Gentleman's C."
Referring to Cruz's time as a student at Harvard Law, Professor Alan Dershowitz said, "Cruz was off-the-charts brilliant."

So why the hell is he casting himself as a country bumpkin Tea Partying populist?

#2 -- Look closely at that final word. He's casting himself as a populist. We all know he wants to be POTUS. Apparently he thinks "the base" can get him there, aided by the usual numbers of Americans that routinely are attracted to whoever is on a soapbox posing as a populist.

Like you, I hope his behavior will turn off vast numbers of voters. But as someone else pointed out today, he is safe in his Senate seat for 6 years and what he's doing right now is becoming a national name. The other Senators don't really count, in this particular stratagem. The average GOP/FOX viewer has been so dumbed down that his outrageous statements do not repel them for their historical inaccuracies or their mean-spiritedness -- they want their personal resentments stirred up and validated, and he is doing that for them.

Unlike you, I don't question his IQ. He's a poser -- a very smart man posing as a stupid one. Beware.

(To double-check his academic achievements I took a look at Wiki, and that's where I got the Dershowitz quote.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Cruz

He's today's version of Joe McCarthy & I'm hoping for the same career-breaking fate for Cruz, taking his teabagger ideology into obscurity with him & leaving a nasty scent on other teabagger ideologues. This is rare drama for such a rigid, toe-the-line rubberstamp party, & I'm enjoying the circus.

Jon Stewart is at his best in this segment about Cruz (posted by Tx4obama in the video forum):

Same idea no matter what. The guy is a clown and is just playing to the ~15% of the country that supports his idiotic ideas.

I would not worry about it. When he runs for President in a couple of years, all the stuff he said will still be there on video.

He is the next Bobby Jindal, of Marco Rubio. Right now he is their star but very soon now that star will set.
