Poll: Do you feel optimistic for increased Democratic seats in 2014 ?

Just curious.

"Increased Democratic seats", meaning more Democratic Senators, Representatives, and Governors.

I think if the PPACA rollout goes well, we will do well. Anything can happen in the next 13 months of course.

We'll see...!

You have to admire the dedication and effort being put into the lost of seats by the GOP including Cruz and Lee

For the opposite reason, the people that vote, if ACA doesn't work well will make us pay.

So we will likely lose seats. Hope I am wrong.

8. It would be good to buck that trend next year

But unless there is some sort of public backlash against the Republicans like there was in 1934 (blocking New Deal legislation) or 1998 (impeachment fiasco), or tremendous support for something Obama has been doing (like there was with bu$h's war in 2002), the historical trend says it will be extremely difficult to pick up seats.

I agree a lot depends on how Obamacare actually works, or doesn't, for most people. But there are other issues as well. If it is a cluster **** like some predict, or an increased burden on most, I think repubs have a cake walk. However, even a mediocre feeling among voters over the ACA next year wouldn't negate that. There are many factors, one being that it is an off-year election. The last off-year election saw Dems take some big hits. We lost the House, for example. The economy will be, as always, a big issue.

Basically, I see 2014 as a referendum on the party in power, and this time it's us. If likely voters are happy with the way things are going, then it is good for Dems. If not, then repubs make gains, maybe big gains.

Too early to tell, but I think optimism at this point would be way premature.

Steve Israel has told me how he thinks we win, but I don't see it happening. I'm focusing my attention on holding the Senate, and winning back Governorships and State Houses so this doesn't happen again.
