Hey! Since Rmoney lost, I haven't seen any of those "I'm a Mormon" Youtube ads - coincidence???

Last year I told some friends that those sponsored videos were probably designed to help pave the way for greater public acceptance of Rmoney -- and I was met with some skepticism. Now I'm thinking that those ads have been conspicuously absent since his defeat.

What do you think?

I haven't seen that glowing documentary about the Mormons they used to play on PBS, either. I swear there was a time there when that shit was on once a week, every week.

So I assume that they were paid for by the members of that Church through tithing.

I can't comment on PBS documentaries - I rarely watch broadcast television (even public broadcast television).

I don't know if they were to support Romney; I think they were more just taking advantage of his prominence to push a message about Mormons.

Full disclosure - I am a Mormon.

...and their history of throwing money at every situation -- I have a difficult time accepting that strictly the Mormons' interests were being represented in this media campaign.

And there is the matter of the PBS barrage -- which is where it would possibly be easier to follow the money.

While i certainly wouldn't put it past Republicans; the Mormons are well known for being a relatively wealthy faith, and since this can be explained by them acting out of their own interests, I think that's the most likely explanation.

Sure enough, Republicans don't seem to see that as a needed way to spend $$ any more. What a coincidence!

I had not thought of that.

Interesting how the media was trying to manipulate and brainwash us subtly to what might have happened?

Now those guys were thinking long term!

The fact that it's LDS is irrelevant, I see nothing particularly malevolent about it. I can ignore it all with ease.

Having not ever seen them I don't objectively ascertain their prevalence before and after the election. If I accept your position that they were plentiful before the election, and non-existent afterwards (which I can't), it still means nothing. Maybe they were more apparent, or frequent, before than after, I can't determine. It's all just proselytizing anyway, that's what they do. No different than knocking on your door on Saturday morning.

...it's not "just" proselytizing -- it's proselytizing for the sake of political advantage, as well of or in place of "just proselytizing" (for the usual purposes).

In other words, were they knocking on your door on Saturday morning "just" to bring you into the Mormon faith ...or were they doing so, partly or wholly to promote Rmoney's candidacy?
