Why is Don Siegelman still in jail?

I am not sure what I'm missing here. I am surprised he's still in prison, and I don't understand it.

When they're saying that what he did was never a crime before he got charged with it, how is he there at all

And is there any reason that we know of as to why President Obama hasn't pardoned him? It seems to me there has to be more to the story if he hasn't been released or had his sentence commuted.

Does anyone have some insights on this?

AFAIK, all (or mostly all) of state attorneys general have signed letters requesting commutation. Wassup?

for a new trial. I believe that is what I read here some time ago. It was a huge disappointment to me. On the other hand, the administration probably knew should it intervene the Republicans would raise a huge stink and accuse President Obama of playing politics. Not that that is really an excuse .... I do believe Siegelman is innocent and that Karl Rove was behind the entire set-up.

Rove engineered the theft of the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections and got away with it, so I am thinking a governorship certainly was also within his corrupt reach.

Criminals. I think he is waiting until then to pardon Gov Siegelman which will take some of the sting out.
