CBS News spouting teabagger bullshit

(MoneyWatch) Wondering what's going to happen to your health insurance premiums under Obamacare?

New research from the Manhattan Institute estimates that insurance rates for young men will rise by 99 percent. Rates for younger women will rise between 55 percent to 62 percent, according to the right-leaning New York think tank.

The Manhattan Institute... Why who the fuck are they you may ask... I was wondering so it was off to the google:

The Manhattan Institute for Policy Research (renamed in 1981 from the International Center for Economic Policy Studies) is a libertarian American think tank established in New York City in 1978 by Antony Fisher and William J. Casey.

Fuckin-A... teabaggers... What a shock. I know, I know, we here at DU are all aware that the media is right-wing but every now and again we should point out their blatant pandering to the teabaggers.

I am a health insurance broker for 25+ years.. young single men premiums are going to rise significantly while older folks 50-64 are going to go down...especially women..

I see this also in my groups..have a machine shop insured..mostly younger guys..They just got hit with a 32% rate increase which is a lot for a group..but my groups with older population have had rate reductions...many 8-12% from last years premiums.

Facts is facts. Yong men and women to some extent are going to end up paying quite a bit more under the ACA.

young men are going to end up paying more and will have higher deductibles..

Young healthy men right now are super cheap to insure..no longer..

But many older folks are really gong to make out under the ACA..my wife one of them..

She is 52 and has some pre ex which makes her ineligible for single coverage ..currently pays $928 per month just for her.. I ran the new rates for January and I can insure her under a better plan she has now, less deductible for $585..no medical questions asked.

have pregnancy and other related expenses even in their 20's and 30's when they would otherwise be cheap to insure.

Who knows where they got their numbers - probably out of their asses - but at least theoretically, insurance premiums ought to fall over time as more people start participating in the program and the pool of insured people becomes larger - thus spreading the risk.
