Ohhhh, this is such welcome news!

This is the 32 year-old young woman who had given birth a week before firing a warning shot at her abusive ex-husband who threatened to kill her. She received 20 years in prison after a jury deliberated briefly.

1. I remember hearing about

this case of gross injustice about the same time as Zimmerman was everywhere in the news. Marissa's case should have gotten much more coverage, but hopefully this jury will spend a little more time deliberating and acquit her.

2. That is indeed welcome news...

...here's hoping she gets a good defense and a better jury than last time.

Even IF one thinks she should have been punished for that warning shot (which I do not), the penalty should have been something like 30 days in jail. She wasn't even trying to hit the asshole, just trying to get him to go away.
