I shook hands with Senator Tim Kaine at the Chickahominy Pow-Wow today
He was walking out with Chief Stephen Adkins and I introduced myself.
"Hello Senator I am big supporter and I want you to know that I knocked on 1,400 doors for you during the election"
I dropped a couple of names from the campaign that he was aware of and he rocked his head back and said, "Wow that was some office"
My Wife and Josie came over at this point and she introduced herself mentioning her role in coordinating volunteers.
Sen. Kaine saw Josie and said. ".... and who is this?"
Josie: "Hi Senator"
This is a crowd of maybe 2,000 on a hilltop plateau. Beautiful day. Tim was "ironically" (as he put it) headed to the Indian-American festival back in the city.
Me: "No vote today?"
Tim: "No, 10 am tomorrow"
Me (as he was talking to Josie) patting him on the back "Give them Hell"
Tim smiled and nodded knowingly.
....
I had to do a Kroger's run after we got home and I saw an (shiny) car with a really low license plate number. I was curious as to who it was. It was Jim Gilmore- former Gov. and former RNC head until Rove booted him out.
....
The Chief praised Sen. Kaine and his support for tribal recognition. Apparently they have known each other since before Tim's kids were born. Tim's oldest son is a Marine Lt. - I didn't get inside the circle this year to honor vets because I had a 8 year old 60 pound Josie on my shoulders so she could have a better view. Service never ends.
