Interesting that he told 60 minutes that he disagrees with the Bible in parts. There really are not a lot of independent sources from the first century.

I seriously think he should ask if the voices he hears in his head are really the Holy spirit.

The conversation with "God" is just another total bullshit gimmick. Billo's ghost writer is not the Holy Ghost and he knows it. Just a guess but I figure the royalties end up somewhere in Murdoch's pocket and Billo keeps a cut. Perhaps book deals are used to keep the Fox knuckle dragger's happy like the inflated ego's of Beck and Hannity. This is just another in the infinite scams to make money off of Jesus who should get the royalties donated to his estate.

As long as they say the voices are God, they are free to do as they please and never considered mentally ill. Those who buck the system and can't get with the program of "There is always enough money for bombs, no questions asked, but never enough for books or social safety net programs." and agree with that mantra wholeheartedly, are the ones considered mentally ill in this country. It is fucked up but true.

Hearing voices is actually pretty rare. Billo does a great disservice by inviting comparisons to those who hear voices. For the most part they are harmless to others and can function. I figure those who claim to hear God do it as a religious fad sales gimmick like speaking in tongues and playing with snakes. Those who are gullible enough to believe Billo really listens to God represent the better slice of the pie and want to be fooled. They are the suckers willing to be fleeced as described by P.T. Barnum. Billo is a carnival barker. He knows he is a carnival barker.

What's his market for this? Not serious religious scholars, and not anybody liberal.

It'll be the usual Billo fan club plus -- maybe -- picking up some evangelicals and conservative Catholics who don't usually buy his books. Those people won't automatically take a "God told me to write it" pitch as pure nuttery.

He may not be able to explain tides going in and out, but he knows what will bring money in.

But alas, he is following along a careful narrative that has made millions of dollars over the years for a select few of RWing nutballs.

Of course he is going to write a book! And Sir Beck thinks he has a PHd in social sciences.

They are all fucking idiot goofballs like Charlies Stupidhammer and anyone that works at the American Spectator.

Their think tanks told them to put money on stupid and they bet it all.

Are you saying that anyone who claims God told them something is nuts, or just because you disagree with O'Rielly, he must be nuts.

For the record, I don't think God tells anyone anything, since he doesn't exist. But if you think he does, does he also tell you who he talks to?

Mon Sep 30, 2013, 11:03 AM
Sep 2013

The ditzy "Maggie" character would have liked to ask Bachmann, who always said god told her to do so and so, how s/he sounded. What was the voice. High? deep? whispering?

And, yes, I think that everyone who claims god talks to him is nuts. And dangerous. Since, as we've seen with evangelicals, you cannot argue or compromise on anything. God said. End of discussion.

(Many years ago we visited the Sinai Peninsula. We flew over the barren hilly desert area. My spouse commented that, walking through this land for so many years, as Moses is supposed to have done, anyone would claim to hear god talking..)

But if that was the case it just means Bill and the Pope are both nuts.

Anyone who claims god "Talks" them is nuts. Hearing voices from people who are not there, or having visions of gods or devils telling you to do something have always been symptoms of mental disorders.

That he, and other entertainers - hate radio, football players, actors - get millions, while doctors and nurses, police officers and fire fighters who actually are helping people, have to fight for every dollar that they get.

Even CEOs of medical device companies and pharmaceuticals do not make that much. Except for 'AARP supported" UnitedHealth.
