This equivalency is horse shit. Both sides are responsible, my ass

Which side is refusing to compromise because a minority of Congress (and the American people) don't like a law that has been passed by both houses of Congress, signed by the President, and upheld by the Supreme Court?

Not liking a law is not a legitimate grounds for shutting down the government and destroying the economy. They lost when it came to the legal ways to challenge that law. The American People voted for Obama twice and overwhelmingly showed support for the Affordable Care Act. We are not ruled by the angry minority, even when they threaten to blow up the government.

folks lacking any information on a political topic not to have to take their own stand on an issue. Some might refer to those folks as lacking the ability to be assertive.

These are words that hostage negotiators have never said. There is no compromise with someone who is making unreal demands.
