So says Senator Angus King (I-ME). And whether or not the rhetoric is too hot for maximum credibility as political persuasion, the charge is fair and the underlying analysis is sound.
By encouraging people to opt to remain uninsured, the anti-Obamacare people have indeed reached the same general level as Anti-Vaxers, extreme Christian Scientists, the old "the science isn't in on cigarettes" crowd, folks who tell you that if you have small children you owe it to your family to have a gun in the house and those intolerable, "seat belts kill more people than they save" idiots.
Encouraging ordinary people to protest integration and seek lower taxes for the 0.01% by going without health insurance (the real argument, when boiled down) is astonishing.
Some conservatives have urged young uninsured Americans to steer clear of the Affordable Care Act's health insurance exchanges, and Sen. Angus King (I-ME) thinks that's reprehensible.
Thats a scandal those people are guilty of murder in my opinion, King told Salon on Friday. Some of those people they persuade are going to end up dying because they dont have health insurance. For people who do that to other people in the name of some obscure political ideology is one of the grossest violations of our humanity I can think of. This absolutely drives me crazy.
With the exchanges set to open Tuesday, there has been an emerging effort on the right to persuade young people not to enroll in what is a thinly veiled effort to undermine the law.
A web video released earlier this month by Generation Opportunity, a group with ties to GOP benefactors Charles and David Koch, featured a disquieting scene involving someone in an Uncle Sam mask performing a procedure on a young woman.
