Elizabeth Warren Not Interested In Running For President

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) insisted in a recent interview with The New York Times that she does not plan to seek the presidency.

"In the interview, Warren, 64, said twice that she had no interest in running for president, a point her aides amplify privately," reported The Times. "But she said she would continue to focus on economic fairness, saying it is the signal issue of the day."

Almost like chickens running around with their heads cut off.

Recently people said Obama was a PNAC operative determined to attack Iran and Syria. Then Obama reaches a deal on the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons. Then suddenly the US and Iran have the first high level contacts in more than 30 years. Oh, Larry Summer won't be Fed chairman either.

All these things happening so fast and they're just so confused. Could they have possibly been wrong?

Of course they were, but they'll never admit it.

Warren will likely endorse Hillary....

Heads will indeed be exploding and confusion will continue to reign on the far left.

I always thought I was (gales of laughter from the 'progressives' here I am sure, how could I possibly think I was far left when I support that Wall Streetin' drug dealin' cavin' President but your post enlightened me on where I stand, and if the 'far left' is what I am seeing here on DU for the past years, I want no part of it.

I think I am a socialist more than anything - the kind that Lawrence O'Donnell is. I know we are a long, long ways off to where we all want to be, but I see and appreciate efforts done to set the path to there and don't expect it to be easy.

btw, no skin off my nose if Warren does not run - I really like her and think she would be Awesome, but if her heart is not in it, then what's the point.

There will be others, hopefully almost like her.

Warren and Clinton are both Dems. Not a big stretch that a Dem would give another Dem the nod.

Some go far beyond just not wanting Hillary to be the nominee. I'm not referring to this one specifically, but to the myriad of them posted on DU.

(and I assume Warren will endorse the Democratic Nominee) Warren endorses Clinton.

I don't think that all Clinton haters are Warren fans/supporters, btw --

I'm not assuming Clinton will be the nominee; personally I think we are a long ways out and I am more concerned about 2014. That said I believe that Warren will endorse whoever our nominee is.

She realizes that, while she has extraordinary popularity with a certain percentage of Democrats, she doesn't have the national name recognition or presence that would enable her to win either enough primaries to get the nomination or to defeat a strong Republican candidate in a national election.

As a Senator, she is placed to make a huge difference. As a failed Presidential candidate, she would make no difference at all.

For those who disagree, I suggest taking a very hard look at the realities of Presidential Elections. If you do that, you can see that she is making a very wise decision at this point in her political career.

That means she has to run 2016, when she will already be 67, or she'll get the "too old" treatment after that.
