(rant) No Individual Mandate = no Obamacare = huge step backward for Single Payer

One can think Obamacare is a corporatist rip-off and still grok that it is a corporatist rip-off that is incrementally better than the current system which, last time I checked, is a spectacular corporate rip-off that is the shame of the entire community of developed nations.

Obamacare will, on balance, benefit millions of real working class and poor people and will demonstrate the cost savings inherent in universal participation, which is the political key to any creep toward single-payer this country is ever going to get.

And, quite fricking pointedly, how will the Republican demolition of Obamacare help advance anything?

(Radicalizing the people? The people most radicalized by no healthcare will probably be in no shape to assist in the revolution.)

Obamacare is not all that, but it is a useful step, and a useful step that requires near universal participation.

(The mandate-less Obamacare of the 2008 primaries was a political stunt, not a serious proposal. One hopes that nobody is currently thinking that the corporations "got to" Obama's free-medicine plan and wrecked it. There was never a workable free-medicine plan.)

Oh wait, you meant the delay in the individual mandate...silly me, forgot people are not corporations, I stand corrected. People pay now, corporations pay later...I can see where such a rallying cry is sooo effective....
