Congress refuses to do its job and STILL gets paid. Congress puts salary of millions on hold, and STILL gets paid. They should face the same consequences and pain that they are inflicting on others.

(16,166 posts)it would be a lesson for the ages. Maybe they would realize that no one is above the law, even the laws they pass excluding themselves.
While they are at it, they can repeal the one that allows them to use insider trading.

(41,831 posts)to hold back their paychecks? Most Republicans could probably not be affected by this, cause they do not live from paycheck to paycheck like many Americans.

(997 posts)The 27th Amendment, which prevents Congress from raising its own pay (any pay increases won't go into effect until the next Congress) also prevents their pay from being reduced:
No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.

You'd be amazed how diligent they are about producing a balanced budget by June 15.
