Moderate Republicans Revolting...now!

Moderate Republicans Revolt

"For almost three years, the story in the House has been about Speaker John Boehner's restive right flank causing him problems. But Republican moderates have apparently had enough," National Review reports.

"In what is by far their boldest stand since the GOP took control of the House in 2010, a group of them are threatening to bring down a vote on the rule for the government-funding bill scheduled for 6:30 p.m....
The group told leadership on Saturday they have 25 members who are willing to bring down the rule."

Politico: "If no Democrats vote for the rule, Boehner can only lose 17 Republicans to sink the plan."

First on CNN: Moderate House Republicans working to line up votes on their own plan
Posted by CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash

Washington (CNN) - Moderate House Republicans who want to fund the government with no strings attached are working to line up votes against a House GOP plan to renew federal coffers while chipping away at Obamacare, multiple GOP sources involved in the effort tell CNN.

Rep. Charlie Dent, R-Pennsylvania, Rep. Peter King, R-New York, and others are feverishly making calls to stage what would effectively be a revolt.

They say they are hoping there are enough GOP members like them who are fed up with the tactics of the leadership that they can find enough votes to defeat the first procedural measure, known as the rule.

That would prevent the House GOP leadership from even bringing their plan up at all.

Given the makeup of the GOP caucus, these House Republican moderates would need in the ballpark of 20 Republicans to agree to defy their leadership, and be willing to face what will undoubtedly be the wrath of the conservative grassroots.

They're the ones who put up with their crazy-ass Tea-Party compatriots in order to get into power, then clean up the mess. Seems like a pretty shitty way to go about it, to me.

And that they can primary any "moderate" republican who strays from the idiot agenda.

I'm not sure that's so true anymore. The tea party has Koch $ behind them but it never was a grass roots movement to begin with and people in general are pretty pissed off with their dumbass games.

A lot of these "moderates" may be in districts that won't be swayed by the racist nativist tea party line.
