Tom Friedman isn't exactly a good messenger for it, unless you're going with an "Even Tom Friedman finally gets that the Republicans have ceded control to radical ideologues" angle.

If that's the point of it, then it's too subtle. As it stands, it's just Tom Friedman, NY Times columnist, saying something forceful, not Tom "mustache of understanding" Friedman, inventor of the Friedman unit, who never speaks ill of the right without adding a "both sides" bit to show how reasonable and centrist he is, finally feels compelled to put the blame squarely on the Republicans.

People that consider Tom Friedman "fair" will listen to him.

People who think Tom Friedman carries water for the right will think, good, even Tom Friedman gets it. Or, worst case, 'broken clock; twice per day."

And people on the right who dissed Tom Friedman in the past will continue to diss him. So what.

Subtle messages are the strongest because they slip under people's radar.

by the Senate upon conviction for high crimes and misdemeanors. It's a rotten shame no ready procedure is available to remove those members of Congress who commit the high crimes of extortion and sedition.
