Amar Kaleka, 35, told The Associated Press hell file paperwork Wednesday to form an exploratory congressional committee. He plans to formally announce his candidacy as a Democrat next month.
Kaleka said he wants to bring accountability and transparency back to Washington. He blamed the government shutdown on Ryan, whos the House Budget Committee chairman, and his GOP colleagues. He said citizens are tired of career politicians who care more about staying in power than serving the people.

(1,426 posts)It's a bit jarring as his father's killer also mistook him for being Muslim ( nothing wrong with that) ..

(51,666 posts)you're in the wrong political party.
It's insulting to act like you don't know or care that there's a difference. But, then, your post was obviously intended to insult Sikhs AND Muslims.

what do you have against muslims?
i wonder if you seek outrage and insult behind every innocuous thing . . .

(51,666 posts)It's no different than the teabaggers telling Obama to "put down the Koran".
You aren't any more Muslim than I am.

upon what basis are you making judgments about my intentions?
please explain your reasoning, unless you are a psychic.
unless you're just really thin skinned and you just look for things to get offended by.

I wish him well and will probably contribute, but Ryan has a Midwest look and appeal despite his horrible "policies."
I think of Ryan as a kid who got an A in basic Econ at one point and convinced himself he was a genius because he could do a spreadsheet that was filled with errors but looked good to the gullible.

(27,985 posts)He's very active in the community and speaks about violence often.
Anyone who knows of the Sikh temple shooting around here knows him and knows they aren't Muslims. Or terrorists.
I am not saying he'll win. It's a tough district that was drawn for the GOP to win. But I wish him well.

(6,262 posts)Yes, a very good guy and I know how Sikhs are not Islamists in any way. However, I strongly suspect that Ryan's district outside of Oak Creek is not so informed or tolerant.
Again, I hope for the best.

(3,577 posts)Rob Zerban, businessman and former county supervisor from Kenosha County, has had an exploratory committee for several months now and has been busy making appearances in the district. He's almost certain to announce soon. He ran against Ryan in 2012 and did well for a first campaign. With greater name recognition this time around and all the crap that has been happening since the last election, I should think he would have the better chance to defeat Paul Ryan.
