Dear GOP,
Yes, and you, the Tea Party terrorists.
Kudos, you all have done an amazing job of pissing of a huge block of voters. You have alienated, abused and demeaned us. You want our votes, yet you throw our rights in our faces. You have made it your job to take away our rights and liberties. I guess in a way we should be honored with all the attention that you bestow on us, sadly for you we are not. You wish us to dance at the cotillion with you, yet we see it as the dance of the macarbe.
You guessed it, this is about the women's vote.
You are such a sad party, you don't know us and you never will. We have suffered far more than you ever will in your lifetime, yet we are strong. You take from us, our rights over our own bodies. You are anti-woman to the core. You condemn not condone , VAWA, equal pay for women, preventative care for women and so much more. You condone forced trans-vaginal ultrasound, rape, and abuse.
You think of us a weak and stupid, we need the big bad congress to tell us how to run our lives. The good old party of shriveled old white men, and some promising neanderthal new comers, need to steer our course, since we are to stupid to know not what to do. Excuse me this is 2013 is it not?
We are fired up and ready to go! You all missed that didn't you. Did you watch Wendy Davis, she stood up! Damn she was on fire as were her supporters. They are going to rock Texas! They are going blue. You all try, I know you do. You all proved that when you stopped the women that went to watch the decision on Wendy Davis's speech. You confiscated their tampons at the door, wow, those could have been lethal weapons! Guns, as was reported were okay, yet tampons were not. You once again tried to debase and humiliate us. You are a sick bunch.
So a word to the repukes, you have your heads so far up your collective asses that you can no longer see the forest for the trees. You see s**t, your world is brown and it reeks of the vile hate that you spew.
So, for everyone of you that have a woman in your life, mother, aunt, sister or daughter, I say get out there and vote. Let's not get thrown under the bus.
Our voices as one. They are strong!

(4,192 posts)As an older white American male, I recognize that our greatest hope for change, for survival, and for prosperity lies with women, with youth, with the budding social movements in Latin America, in the social progress in Europe, in the Arab Spring movement, in the OWS movement. At the forefront of everything is the empowerment of women and women's rights.
Those are very beautiful pictures with your post. Thank you for writing this.

I did not wish to alienate anyone, and you understand that. Hearts to your support. Yes, this was posted from a woman's perspective, yet it is an issue for all.
I posted many things when VAWA was up to a vote. Yes it is personal, it was about women. Yet we all have a woman in our lives.
Thank you so very much for supporting that!
The pics are indeed awesome!

(2,338 posts)Our Virginia wannabe governer who wants to outlaw oral sex. Now, how on earth would he enforce that without hiring a bunch of peeping-toms. Oh, forget I said that. It would be the teapots that must not be getting their fair share at home. They'd be happy to live vicariously and inform on the godless, heathen electorate.
These are the same people who endorsed transvaginal probes, which to me is nothing more than legalized sexual assault. I'd like to perform one of these exams on our current governer and the Cooch (of course, in a different location) to see how invasive THEY think it is. Must have this procedure in order to get that Viagra prescription....beause I suspect they need that since they don't get fluffed beforehand. On the other hand (no pun intended-well maybe), they might actually enjoy it.

(1,309 posts)you insist on calling the Teaparty rag tag. You perpetuate the image that it is an ignorant mob with little sense of direction. The teaparty is funded by extremely rich individuals, led by wives of Supreme court Justices, Senators, Former leaders of the Congress, and well positioned House Members. It is a movement of the better off to better their position and that of their rich donors. As such it bears little resemblance to a populist style, rag tag if you will. movement. By using that word you are giving the Teaparty and the GOP to potray us as out of touch elitist liberals that care little what the people think and know what is best for them. I loved the song, I am woman, hear me roar, but let us make sure those roars are pretty concise and cannot be misused to help our enemies. I recognize the Teaparty as a huge threat to our democracy. It is supported by the very rich, has access to the conservative media and its most extreme elements, dominionists, secessionists, John Birchers, American Nazis, Ku Klux Klanners are hidden from public view by the conservative controlled main stream media in cahoots with many in the populace who shield us from such a disturbing and inconvenient truth. Rag tag should be considered a badge of honor, please do not forfeit it to the unpatriotic Teaparty or the corporatist GOP.

(26,591 posts)I have always loved the song. my point was do not help those you are roaring about with your choice of lyrics. I am a bit sick of elitists labeling people rag tag and I do not believe such a well intentioned and intelligent woman who wrote the comment would want to help the Tea party by her choice of words. I will now listen again to the song.

(17,107 posts)Please keep doing this. Awareness to action to votes. I just sent contributions to Lois Frankel and Colleen Hanabusa. Keep the women we've got in Congress; bring more in, open up the Oval Office. And, as you may have expected, I'm putting in a plug here for Amanda Renteria from California: http://amandarenteria.com/

(83,746 posts)You are right, we need more women in both chambers. We have Katherine Clark running in a special election in Mass. Dec.10. We hope that she will win Ed Markey's vacated seat. He became our our new Senator this summer.
Plug Amanda anytime you wish, she sounds wonderful.

(3,919 posts)a texas tornado of women is about to roar it's way across the land - and in a good way.
as a woman of color in my 60's i've had enough of the teaparty stupidity and ignorance. i disagree with whomever stated they are "intelligent". to have brains is one thing - they are worthless without an acknowledgement of natural law and something called compassion. "intelligence" involves more than brain matter.

(1,309 posts)maybe many of us old white guys should start wearing pink to show our support for women's rights. Maybe we should print the names of democratic candidates in pink when they support women. Maybe we should make pink the new action color. I ain't afraid to wear pink.

(46,179 posts)Oh. You're talking to the GOP. On Democratic Underground.
I got confused for a minute.
I've pissed off plenty of people during my lifetime; it happens all the time. It happens because I tend to say what I think whether or not others like it.
I'm not afraid of the anger of others. It's true that mob anger can be dangerous, of course. I don't like anger as a motivating force. It's dangerous, it's destructive, and it is, more often than not, self-destructive.
I say that because I think the point of your letter to the GOP is to threaten them with anger. It's true that anger CAN motivate, and CAN be used to achieve a goal. Like using nukes to threaten others, it can also create more problems than it solves.
Someday, if humanity survives, I hope we will evolve into beings that can solve problems and disagree without the destructive forces of anger, fear, hate, and greed.
As for me, I'll consider 2014, or 1016, a victory if we elect people who will staunchly oppose neoliberalism and corporatism in every form, who will support broad human rights in our own nation.
Women? I am one. Somewhere in that rant to the GOP, you and I have some areas of agreement. And your "Woman Rising" post is beautiful.
sheshe2
(83,746 posts)I did not threaten the GOP with anger. I made a promise to them, a promise that we would be there, at the polls and send them our answer. That answer is no! We do not wish to have our rights taken from us.
The whole point of my "letter", is to get up, rise up and make our voices heard. That is done when we vote. Being pissed off and awakening, is not advocating violence and hate.
It happened in Texas, it was beautiful. People came out in droves to support equal rights, not just women but the men that love and support the women in their lives.
The whole point is that we are going to rise up. We will feel our power and make it know at the polls that we will not support their antiquated ideals.
GOTV 2014 and beyond.
