The last four paragraphs of this column by right-wing writer Gina Miller come pretty close to an explicit endorsement of (and call for) a military coup:
I have no doubt that Obama fears a military coup against him and his administration. He knows the U.S. military is likely the only earthly power with the capability of removing him from office. Yes, I know Congress could move to impeach him, but do you see any hint of those people growing the guts to do it? He's not worried about Congress or even the courts stopping him, but he is worried about the military, so he's doing all he can to commandeer it, to squash opposition, to rid it of those pesky patriots, Christians, and any others who might question his communist sensibilities.
Barack Obama desperately needs to be removed from office. While we have certainly had bad presidents in the past, his lawlessness is unprecedented. His disdain for our nation's Constitution is despicable. His disregard for the limit on his power is breathtaking. His systematic deconstruction of our once-free Republic is beyond treasonous. If he is not stopped, then by the end of his current term, his destruction of our freedoms, our economy, and our American way of life will likely be complete.
Again I ask, what will it take to stop Barack Obama?

The first thing any Democratic Congress needs to do is reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine. Stop this garbage from being disseminated in a vacuum, unanswered.

THE RIGHT TO SAY AND WRITE WHAT YOU THINK
Members of the military have the right to say or to write what they think, up to a point. They can't say things that encourage violence (other than as part of authorized military operations) or urge others to violate military regulations. They can't communicate with "the enemy," for example, by writing letters to Iraqi officials or soldiers. Article 88 of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) makes it a crime for a commissioned officer to use "contemptuous words" against the President, Vice-President, Secretary of Defense, and other specified high government officials. Enlisted members can be prosecuted under Article 134 for using similar words. The words have to be "to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, or conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces." Military members have gotten into trouble for calling officials "fascists," "thieves," murderers" "tyrants" "fools" and "gangsters." This law is selectively enforced. Some officers didn't get in trouble for saying bad things about President Clinton, for example. Article 117 of the UCMJ outlaws using "provoking or reproachful words or gestures" towards someone else in the military. The more real danger, however, if from saying things that could make other members desert, disobey lawful orders, or refuse to do their jobs. That kind of speech could violate Article 82 of the UCMJ, which makes it a crime for someone in the military to ask someone else to desert or mutiny (disobey orders as a group).

(153 posts)And yet most struggle with basic grammar, have difficulty with reading comprehension, and are totally dependent on some clown radio/TV shock jocks to feed them their talking points.
These self-claimed "patriots" and self-proclaimed "Christians" are nothing but mini con-artist wannabes sucked in by the dominionist television cabal - which for the last 20 years or more has been claiming exclusive rights to constitutional interpretation, along with exclusive claims to God and true religion. Real patriots and real Christians don't have to run around screaming their identity out of every megaphone and mike.
They seem to keep hoping that if they repeat the same catch phrases over and over and over again, everyone is going to believe them. I think they've finally overplayed their hand and the reaction from most people now is a barely polite rolling of the eyes.

(6,640 posts)and it has been alive and well ever since Rush Limbaugh went on the air in the 1980s. And he spawned many imitators. Local DJs who emulated him. Propaganda and brain washing. I saw it then as brainwashing which I had studied in high school. (yes, I am that old) and the republicans have been using it for decades. Now it is Fox news that does the most brainwashing which is probably why they passed the telecommunications bill in the 90s.
