Little-known Virginia law could have big effect on GOP

http://thepoliticalline.blogspot.com/2013/11/why-gop-should-be-very-worried-about.html?spref=tw

Nominees of a political party that "at either of the two preceding statewide general elections, received at least 10 percent of the total vote cast for any statewide office filled in that election" are exempt from needing to gather signatures.
What this law is saying could have disastrous consequences for years to come, 2016 included, for the Republican Party. If Robert Sarvis can achieve the 10% threshold the Libertarian Party will be automatically allowed to recruit and place candidates on a ballot for statewide office without having the uphill climb to obtaining signatures to be places on a ballot. This could be a real, and effective way, for a third party to get into the mainstream politics, at least in Virginia. These candidates includes not only state house and state senate candidates but US Senate, US House, and even President in 2016.

The Libertarian Party, while some of its platform is appealing to the left, it has been viewed as late as a spoiler party for the Republican candidates for office. Time will tell how this all plays out, but for now the GOP in Virginia has more to worry about than Ken Cucinelli losing his race.

that's something worthy of Stretch Armstrong. If you're so concerned that it's support for a 3rd party, why not alert it? And if you have, please share the results with the rest of us.
