Boston is celebrating the World Series win with a Duck Boat parade through the city today.
When the Duck Boats reached the finish line of the Boston Marathon, they stopped. One player got out with the World Series trophy and placed it on the finish line with the "617 Boston Strong" shirt the team has carried with it since the bombing.
Two million people were silent.

(14,881 posts)I really did!
A couple decades ago, my work team and I were on a "field trip" in Boston, part of which included a duckboat ride. While we were in the water, the drivers let me drive! They really did!!! Nobody else got the honor! I can't remember why I was allowed to, now, and I can't remember why we were even on a duckboat.
The best part, though, was when we passed an expensive store and I said I couldn't afford to shop there. A couple women on the back of the boat started pleading with my boss to "Give MT a raise so she can afford to shop there, too! She deserves a raise!"

(21,020 posts)I have goosebumps and tears in my eyes just from reading about it.
I hope they show it on TV at some point.
It would be really cool for that to happen again next February...

(46,570 posts)and my greatest disappointment was missing a photo opportunity. I only had two, maybe three seconds to react so the moment came and went. The bus took a turn and for that brief moment I was looking at a clean, clear reflection of myself in the vehicle. Across the street was a building that was mirrored. A fleeting moment that would have made a great shot.
You all have a lot to be proud of.

(110,947 posts)Also, I think this is one of the greatest teams of all time and would defeat most of the great Yankee teams of the past. They had a great balance of excellent pitching and timely hitting and a great team concept. Ortiz has to be one of the most-feared hitters of all time in clutch situations.
Congratulations !!

(1,112 posts)I live in (Greater) Boston, was born and raised here, and am happy the Sox won. But there are more important ways to make our lives better after the bombing...

and P.S. Millions of people did come out to protest against war. Feb 15 2003 for starters, and before, and after. I know, I saw, I was there every time.
Were you?

(1,112 posts)But two million IN ONE CITY? I saw an average of about 100 on Boston Common per protest. It was very disheartening...
