Our Military - World Police?

At one time, the mission statement for our military was simple: "See the hill? Take the hill." We got good at this. Eventually, we became the best at this.

Since they were so good at this, eventually more duties were assigned to them forgetting the rules that made them good at "taking the hill." They were granted Police duties, even though there were many who had practiced Police duties and were practiced at them. Front line soldiers who had been trained so well at killing everything in sight having been trained and taught repeatedly that anyone in their way was the enemy and needed to be killed and destroyed so that they may achieve their objective (take the hill).

Now, we are forcing them to be "policemen", a job that is better done by actual Police. It is a totally different mindset. Perhaps we should have a different group trained by US Marshall's who actually understand civilian rights and pacification abd let the front-line do what they do best.

As for whether We, The USA should be the Policemen of the World, I am against it. However, we need someone to step up to perform that function. The UN is supposed to fulfill that function but has been unable to because of the very rules that allowed it to exist. NATO has done a much better job, but only when they allow the USA to take the lead.

I do not think that the USA should be the "policeman of the world". However, the World needs some sort of policing. No one else seems capable of doing anything. Although we are not perfect by any means, we must do what we can.

This is the takeaway I want you to get: Although we are not perfect by any means, we must do what we can.
