Mom dressed son as Klansman for Halloween because it’s a family tradition

Is the KKK still active in your hood?

Mom dressed son as Klansman for Halloween because it’s a family tradition
http://www.salon.com/2013/11/04/mom_dressed_son_up_as_klansman_for_halloween_because_its_a_family_tradition/

This year’s most offensive Halloween costume “winner” is doting mother Jessica Black of Craigsville, Va., who was just upholding a time-honored family tradition when she decided to send her 7-year-old son out as a KKK member. “My brother was [a Klansman] when he was in kindergarten and when he was 13,” Black told WHSV.

Her son Jackson apparently saw the white supremacist costume in the movie “Fried Green Tomatoes” and made his mom proud when he asked if he could dress up at a Klansman for Halloween “cuz it was cool.”

“I did tell him that if you do it, you know there’s going to be people talking about you, there’s going to be people saying bad things about you when you do wear it,” she said.

Though everyone who is not racist is outraged by the costume, Black defended her position. “It’s supposed to be white with white. Black with black. Man with woman and all of that. That’s what the KKK stands for. The KKK every year, raises money to donate to the St. Jude’s,” she said, explaining that the KKK still has a presence in Craigsville. ........

What is wrong with people? This has to violate some child neglect or abuse law. We've got our share of whackos in the Old Dominion.

and say that if that kid was sent around a neighborhood with black residents, it could be legally interpreted as harassment, intimidation, a threat of some kind of hate crime...Had that kid shown up on my door, I promise you I'd have been calling the cops...

No Klan activity around here. In fact, I have never seen any Klan activity in my life. I grew up in Bee County, TX, and as an adult have lived in LA, MS, AL, FL, GA, VA, RI, PR, GU (Granted, PR & GU aren't states) and been in all the other states except AK. I have never seen any Klan activity.

If you think the Klan doesn't operate in Virginia, you are sadly mistaken. But Norfolk is a lot different than the western parts of that state.

I'm only two generations removed from the Klan, and I recognize it for the abomination that it is. It's not a 'tradition' with me or any one else with a shred of humanity.

There's a word I'm not supposed to call this women, so I'll just think it...

it turned out all the women knew who was in the Klan, because none of them bothered to change their shoes.
