Cuccinelli: McAuliffe brought ‘chutzpah from New York’

Really? McAuliffe is not Jewish, but if this is not an attempt to antisemitism, I wonder what that is.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/govbeat/wp/2013/11/02/cuccinelli-mcauliffe-brought-chutzpah-from-new-york/

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) said Saturday that Terry McAuliffe, his Democratic opponent in the race for governor, “brought plenty of chutzpah from New York” with him when he moved to the commonwealth.

Well, it would not be the first time that antisemitism has been present in a Cooch's rally.

then considering that McAuliffe left New York in 1975 at the age of 18 to attend Catholic University and then Georgetown, and then marriage and the move to Virginia, where he has been ever since.

Perhaps in Cuccinelli's reasoning, if smearing his opponent for being a New Yorker, even though he really isn't, is not enough then why not smear him for being Jewish, even though he is not that either. Makes perfect sense.

and based on some of the rural Virginians I've encountered, "New York" would be considered the actual insult. Cantor is Jewish, and conservatives in the 7th District keep re-electing him.

McAuliffe is neither Jewish nor from New York City (sorry, having been born to a Catholic family way up in Syracuse once upon a time does not remotely qualify you for the "chutzpah" label.)

But I bet this wink-wink slur works on Cuccinelli's base.

You' re not, (I am not either), but in his case, there is little doubt what he meant.

Remember the pilot of the West Wing, where a RW religious nut tells to Josh Lyman that his New York humor is not fine. Josh retorts that he is from CT, but Toby Ziegler tells him she meant Jewish. This is what we have here, but not in a movie, in real life.

Since McAuliffe is not Hispanic, AA, Asian, or any other race than Caucasian, he couldn't smear him by bringing up his race. So he tried to sneak in a Jewish slur, but it backfired because a) Terry is Catholic b) people can add anti-Semitism as another reason not to vote for the bigot.

Cooch still has 24 hrs. left to campaign, let's see what other group he manages to insult before he goes down in flames.

I just typed a bunch of anti-Italian slurs here as a joke and then thought better of it. Full disclosure.

Cooch said the same things about Obama. People know McAuliffe is Irish Catholic, and Cooch is Italian Catholic. Do people not realize the Republican candidate for Lt. Gov. is black? This is the state that threw out that racist bastard George Allen for calling an Indian kid "Macaca" and talking about his love for pork chops and ham sandwiches to deny his Jewish ancestry on his mother's side. Jews are way more politically influential than us Indians. Northern VA doesn't tolerate much bigotry.

The demographics of the state have gotten much more diverse and educated over the years. They elected a black governor before and a black president twice. VA is not the confederacy any more. They were the first southern state to divest from apartheid era South Africa. You'd have to be pretty dumb to alienate anyone in this state. Cooch has alienated women which is what will lose him the election.

And yes, I like calling him cooch.
