"Active Shooter Training"

In an on-going effort to keep the [xxxxx] University community educated in safety related matters, faculty and staff are invited to attend a training session on how to survive an active shooter situation. While the training focuses on the workplace, the information presented in the program can be applied to any active shooter situation.

Just got this email from Human Resources. I'm sure this training has merit.... but wow.

But I'm wondering, why is the training only for faculty and staff?

Why aren't the students invited?

This stuff costs money, sometimes lots of money. I'd be interested to know how much they are spending on it. They may well have outside funding for it.

The problem is ordinary people cannot go about their jobs while being "prepared" all the time.
