(How do I know the R will contest? Because he's losing. I wish D's would learn that lesson...)

(53,339 posts)Taking that into consideration plus known errors not yet figured into the current result, Dave Wasserman of Cook Political Report sees Obershain pulling ahead before any outstanding provisional and absentee votes are added in.
By my math, Obenshain is likely to net another 700-800 votes from the three outstanding precincts. Herring's current "true" lead: 358 votes.

(62,269 posts)Makes me not too upset if he loses. The recount will definitely be triggered, though.
Your detective work is much appreciated.
Hope Herring wins once all is said is done.

Herring (D) 49.91% 1,098,418
Obenshain (R) 49.88% 1,097,877
In VA, there is an automatic recount if it is within 0.02%. From past recounts, it won't change more that 200-600 votes.
Edited to add: the recount is automatic at 1%, not 2%.

(45,452 posts)The Deeds AG recount (they were apart by 600 votes too) took 10 days, iirc.
