Fox News: Don't blame ACA for cancellations, blame your provider

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/11/05/insurance-cancelled-dont-blame-obama-or-aca-blame-america-insurance-companies/

Let me put it more bluntly: your insurance companies have been taking advantage of you and the Affordable Care Act puts in place consumer protection and tells them to stop abusing people.

The government did not “force” insurance companies to cancel their own substandard policies. The insurance companies chose to do that rather than do what is right and bring the policies up to code.

WOW... even FAUX news is ahead of the blame Obama first crowd

I've been saying this for days, OBAMA DID NOT LIE

The HCI's could've amended the policies in force to the ACA standards and kept the premiums the same...

The HCI's didn't, they HCI's are greedy

Obama admin continues to screw up on fundamental communication and retort .. the low hanging fruit stuff.

Your take?

while the Obama Administration and Democrats are apparently waiting for the right time to discuss this fact.

Who could have possibly predicted that the insurance companies might do such a thing? After all, their main focus has always been affordable, quality patient care.

Time for single payer. The insurance companies need to take a hike. Health care costs will never be affordable as long as insurance company CEOs are being paid millions a year to figure out new ways to screw customers.

Except that Obama lied by saying people could keep their insurance if they wanted to. I've heard that a LOT.

courtesy of the bought and paid for press. I remember a pic of him with insurance execs and the article was something about Obama asking them to explain why they were cancelling so many policies.

Guess that story got buried in the "the health care website doesn't work" stories followed by the "Obama lied" stories. If the M$M actually did its job, THIS would be the story--that once again, big corporations are taking advantage of Americans.

Of course, this completely eliminates the "Obama lied" stories by shattering them with facts, and I guess the stories about lying are more sensational.

Congress should have anticipated this would happen, and included penalties for insurers that cancel policies. I've also been hearing about insurers trying to get customers to renew more expensive policies when they could actually save money on the exchanges.

Appreciate the links!

FoxNews.com opinion also includes Sally Kohn, another liberal who wrote "I was an Obamacare guinea pig".

and right wingers who consider themselves so sophisticated when it comes to contracts should have known that. Obama only meant you wouldn't be forced to change - he couldn't promise that the insurance company would continue the contract.

This is the problem with the employer based thing. The person didn't really go into the market, they just accepted what their employer offered.

It's not an "editorial." It's a column, written by Juan Williams, and the views are entirely his own.

It is surprising to see Fox run this kind of thing.

Then again, it's Juan Williams. While he's no liberal by any stretch of the imagination, neither is he a rabid tea partier.

I have a theory on Fox News, though. Every blue moon, they'll allow a more liberal friendly point of view to slip by the goalie, just to maintain the delusion that they are "Fair and Balanced." I remember Fahrenheit 9/11 getting a good review from Fox News and I have no doubt that was the thought at play.

It's their proverbial "black friend", so to speak.

Bill O'Reilly does this, too. Once or twice a year, he'll voice an opinion that doesn't sound like an ultra-conservative and which I might be able to agree on to some extent. To give the perception that he's somehow an honest broker.

Sean Hannity, on the other hand, is just a conservative douchebag 24/7/365.

on their programs. It's his job to do his best to oppose the majority conservative viewpoint of that network.

The fact that he wrote an article that was posted on the Fox News web site and supported the Affordable Care Act does not mean that Fox News has changed its views on the subject.
