The CC TP candidate who lost - Dean Young- said he would not vote for or support the establishment candidate (Bradley Byrne) who "lied" and is a "RINO", and is "bought and paid for", .... and I don't know what else - eats puppies, maybe??. Its been fun watching this sideshow.

Calling your opponent to congratulate them isn't a gesture meant to forgive everything that was said during the campaign or to support their future endeavors. It's a basic display of respect for the democratic process, nothing more nothing less.

Amidst bitter political feuding, a former Chuck Schumer aide won the Dem primary, ousting a longtime incumbent. Schumer was of course heavily involved. The loser said something like, "Why should I call Dan Squadron? Maybe I should call Chuck Schumer."

Of course, it stuck in my mind precisely because, as per your post, it's so rare.

Twice we received calls from his campaign wanting to talk to my son. He's 15! I explained he was too young to vote and besides, we lived in Kansas!

When we got home from work Monday night, there were two messages on our machine reminding us to get out on Tuesday and vote for Cuccinelli!

If he runs government like he did his campaign, I'd overjoyed he didn't win!

I'll bet he spits on his wife and children, because he surely views them as inferior. (He's made his opinion of women quite clear.)
