Finally back on US soil after 12 months in RVN on Braniff Airlines. Ironically, left Cam Rahn Bay on November 6, 1968 7AM RVN time traveling via Yokohama, Japan.
By time of this post was home in St. Clair, Missouri by 2PM. Actually voted IN MY UNIFORM on election day. Voted for Nixon I was so mad at LBJ. What a mistake that was. Only Republican I ever voted for in my life. Now near 70.
No need to thank me really. Thank the other guys who did not survive so well. It has been great for me.

(1,076 posts)Made that trip in September '67, Ben Hoi via Okinawa to Lambert. Yes, there are gentleman to always be honored at the wall. Let us not forget the living gentleman whose lives were forever changed. Tom

(53,339 posts)Thought I'd be returning to Vietnam after treatment, but my hospitalization was to last a lot longer than I expected and I was retired for partial disability.
I finally did make it back, though. I made three month-long trips to Vietnam in the '90s. For me, those trips were very special.
