For those worried about taking and holding Congress, just remember. . .

. . . yes, 21 Dem Senate seats are up for grabs in 2014, versus only 14 for the GOP.

But we will retain the presidency. Veto power, at least, in a worst-case scenario.

Then get a load of 2016, a PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR with huge turnout and the demographics more Dem than ever:

24 GOP seats at stake, versus just 10 Dems

Game, set, match. Don't take the Tea Party et al for granted, but don't think for a moment they have the upper hand.

Lots can change. But for better or worse, the most likely scenario is for Hillary to be the Dem candidate. If that happens, we will have an historic turnout of women, and that will further amplify our inherent demographic advantage. To me, that makes it better than 50/50 that we can control the House, have 60 or more in the Senate, and own the WH. Moreover, by that time, here are the ages of SCOTUS Justices when the new President takes office in January, 2017:

The insanely right-wing 5
===================
Scalia 80
Kennedy 80
Thomas 68
Alito 66
Roberts 62

The center-right 4
==============
Ginsberg 83
Breyer 78
Sotomayor 62
Kagan 56

At least one of those extreme 5, if not two of them, will be gone before the end of the next President's first term.
