Holy Shit.....The Red States are Lost!

If I'm a progressive candidate trying to turn parts of deep red states blue....I have to look at the NJ Gov race and say "WTF"

If you consider that race a lost cause, in a very blue state and decide to support our opponent, I guess I'm fucking hopeless. Might as well support Newt and Saxby

And my point has more to do about the many lectures we sometimes see on DU about how we in the South need to work harder to turn our states blue

And it pains me when folks bash the south, forgetting that there are good progressives here looking to make positive changes.

Yet we tune in tonight and there are quite a few folks falling over themselves to explain away Dem support for a Republican candidate in a state where they really didn't have to do it.

Christie got reelected because he acted buddy-buddy with Obama after the Sandy disaster, fooling low information voters into thinking he'd gone moderate.

I can't imagine too many southern or Moron Corridor pols getting buddy-buddy with Obama no matter what he did to rush aid to their districts after disasters.

Don't judge your state by theirs.

Just pointing out that if Dems can't even muster token support for a statewide office in a blue state, what message is being sent to those toiling under much onerous circumstances?

I'm an Illinoisan living in Huntsville AL and we're supposed to be a city filled with rocket scientists. We should be able to recognize how the US Govt works. No such luck, we're a city filled with engineers that bitch nonstop about big government while they work for the said government. Nonstop bitching about how the Mexicans are taking our jobs and the lazy blacks are taking our money. They might has well be wearing the "keep your government hands off of my medicare" signs.

As the cliche goes, "Beam me up Scotty, there is no intelligent life here".

I'm a northerner living in Georgia and I have to respectfully disagree. Yes, there are those who hold the opinions you stated. But there are a hell of a lot of folks that share ideas that many of us on DU like.

Sadly though, your post sort of underscores my point. You're ready to get "beamed" up from a southern state yet in a fairly blue state, many Dems fell all over themselves supporting a Repub that a great many of us consider to be a colossal asshole.

Too many here expect that behavior from the South What's the Norths excuse?
