Hawaii - christianist bullies attempt to hijack marriage equality press conference at capitol

this press story is way too considerate of the bullies. what I witnessed was a group of about 30 militant anti gay protestors split from their main herd to surround the various christian ministers who were speaking out in favor of equality. Shouting and waving their signs they pushed thru the equality group from the rear and then circled around to the front and took over the area in front of the press conference microphones. Their chant, let the people vote, is the scripted chant being demanded by the various anti gay churches opposed to marriage equality. In keeping with what the glbt community expects from law enforcement, the local security that I saw stood by and smiled pleasantly. Considering the heated behavior of the anti equality crowd it was surprising so little security was actually there. Wellmaybe not surprising given the attitude of the police union president in Honolulu.

It is so ironic that many of these christianists are pacific islanders of one group or another, and their ancestral cultures were destroyed, sterilized and whitewashed by christian missionaries

A friend of mine is from Kenya, and it's even worse over there. He doesn't understand either how Kenyans can embrace the religion that colonized their nation
