New Silk Road drug bazaar opens a month after FBI bust

By Noel Randewich
SAN FRANCISCO | Thu Nov 7, 2013 3:41am EST

(Reuters) - A new anonymous Internet marketplace for illegal drugs debuted on Wednesday, with the same name and appearance as the Silk Road website shut down by U.S. law enforcement authorities a month ago.

Like its predecessor, the new Silk Road listed hundreds of advertisements for marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and other illegal drugs available for purchase from independent sellers using the anonymous Bitcoin digital currency.

On October 1, the Federal Bureau of Investigation shut down the original Silk Road and arrested its alleged mastermind, Ross William Ulbricht, 29, known online as "Dread Pirate Roberts," in San Francisco.

"It took the FBI two-and-a-half years to do what they did ... but four weeks of temporary silence is all they got," a site administrator wrote, also using the "Dread Pirate Roberts" moniker.

gets rid of drug-related crime, gets new source of taxes by selling drugs in government run stores cheaper than street price (see Uruguay), lets farmers plant and legally sell another type of crop (to government run stores, of course), saves damn money in billions by not fighting "War on drugs", etc., etc., etc.

Face it, humans are not rational when it comes to drugs.

6. There wouldn't be a murder for hire because there wouldn't be anyone to blackmail.

This is a drug-related crime. Sell legal drugs cheaper than street price, allow up to 5-10 marijuana plants/per person, allow co-ops for personal use. Make sure addicts are treated, to the point of free prescription (UK does it, why not US?). It will wipe out all drug cartels in the country, AND cut all drug related crimes to bare minimum. It sure as hell will keep people away from shit like krokodil.

Go further, legalise prostitution. Unionise them, make sure they have medical check-ups at least once a month, counselling if requested + help to get out of sex-trade, all under government run business set-up. That will wipe out most of the illegal sex trade, and serve as another blow to crime cartels.

What the heck is there to lose?

7. You don't go into the drug business to make a societal statement or to 'help' people.

You do it because you see it as an easy way to money. Helping clients get addicted simply means more money.

There is no excuse for trying to murder someone. None.

And yes, you do go into drug business if you want to help people and cut down drug-related infections, crime, and number of hard-drugs addicts.
Never mind chronic pain treatment, as an example.

4. must be why when my friend sent one heartworm tab for her dog to me, it was held up in post office.

was watching her dog and he needed his monthly heartworm med. So she mails it and finally it arrives in a post office plastic bag. the corner of the envelope was carefully cut away and swab marks across envelope.

I wish there was someway we could get all our FBI and CIA personal files. The Gov must spend thousands? on every American with these huge 'nets' they have everywhere.
