Super Typhoon Haiyan is officially the strongest cyclone to make landfall in recorded history.

195 mph sustained winds as it plows into the archipelago. Gusts in excess of 235 mph. Communication has been lost with many cities in its path.

DUers, we are very likely looking at an unfolding of the deadliest natural disaster in 2013 and possibly one of the most destructive of all time. In the coming weeks, if this is as severe as it seems, the world must come to the aid of The Philippines.

Which would provide literally zero protection against this storm.

They were suppose to be evacuated but we won't know what actually happened until the storm passes.

The eye is about 8 miles in diameter, the strongest winds (195mph) are going to be surrounding the eye wall and extending a few miles...

so yeah, an EF4 / EF5 tornado which is 15 miles wide (12 to 15) and stays on the ground for hours.

It would be on the ground longer (and weaken) but it will be back over the ocean again until it hits Vietnam.

Haiyan is the 30th typhoon this season to hit the western Pacific Ocean.

I wish only the best for everyone concerned.
