(43,049 posts)scribblers gotta scribble and pundits gotta pundificate and it's a slow nooz weekend. Christie is just the latest thing to yack on about. We'll see what next week brings. And he's not going anywhere-- he's slick and smart, if a bit of a prick, but he'll be knocked out early. Just like Rudy 9/11 who had one tragedy "benefit" his miserable persona that he worked to death.
Do you really want these guys to go out and research a complex story about something that that really matters?

(29,067 posts)My God, this Wingnut hammered on incessantly on the "harm" of Obama care...The "response"
if you can call it that, from Steve and the panel was so LAME I could hardly believe it.
Steve and one panelist barely interrupted him, and when they did, it was brief and
oh so polite. I couldn't believe it.
Ex-Governor Gilmore talked SO long that he "ran out the clock" and when the camera turned to Steve it caught him
with a slightly pathetic look of open-mouthed surprise, whereupon he had just enough time to "thank" Gilmore and
let him go.
I couldn't believe a supposedly "progressive" show would allow this, but I've noticed other changes on "Up", mainly
that the "panels" are adding more conservatives and that even the supposed "lefties" are becoming more
familiar and "establishment".
This is a definite departure, as the show started out with a really interesting, eclectic group of progressive
intellectuals who were less well known and "mainstream".

whathehell
(29,067 posts)they do have progressives like Rachel, Ed Shultz and Chris Hayes on at night.
Atman
(31,464 posts)They put on a few hours of "progressives" at night, and they're called a LEFT WING NETWORK, just as bad as Fox "News" which shows NO progressive programming, and only features liberal/Democratic guests as a side-show to be ridiculed. But you regularly hear how MSNBC is just the Left-Wing equal to Fox. Nothing could be further from the truth. MSNBC is ALL RIGHT, ALL MORNING. Three hours of Scab, then Tuck Choad, then Andrea Greenspan...show me any part of Fox's programming that is given over to the left as MSNBC does for the right? You can't. It doesn't happen. And as Democrats, we never fight back...we just say "Oh, yeah, MSNBC is just like Fox!" Bullshit.

(29,067 posts)and the obvious "muzzling" that goes on, even with progressives like Rachel and Chris Hayes at night.
None of them -- except Ed Schultz -- will even whisper about the Trans Pacific Partnership, which I view
as an urgent and critical issue right now.
Today's "UP" seemed a good example of the kind of "restrictions" put on the hosts -- Social issues galore,
but economic issues, which are arguably the most important, are rarely mentioned, and, if they are,
they are not discussed in any depth.

(31,464 posts)Keep 'em talking about abortion and The Gays and don't mention the job killer -- no, not Obamacare, the TPP. No one I know has a clue what this is. Obamacare sux! The gays and socialism and Benghazi! But the Trans Pacific Partnership? Sounds cool! I love the Pacific! We're doomed.

(31,464 posts)...a true progressive. They replaced him with this shell-shocked kid who is just thrilled to have a job, and will do anything to please the BOD. Meanwhile, Hayes' show will be cancelled soon. Mission accomplished.

(29,067 posts)Chris Hayes always seemed sharper than SK to me, and yes, your characterization of "shell-shocked kid" aptly fits the description of his
expression today, but hey -- You seem to be on to more than I am -- Do you know for a fact that
Hayes' show is going to be cancelled?...I never liked it as much as his "UP", but I thought it was doing well in the ratings.
Just wondering, Atman -- Has there been a change of management or something at MSNBC?...It's not clear to me why
they would have established "UP" in the first place if their goal was to get rid of Hayes and the show all the time...I'm just
wondering what your thoughts are.
Atman
(31,464 posts)Just speculation. It's the way things work...
They moved Hayes to a hell-hole time slot with notoriously low ratings. The power that be MIGHT have thought he'd revive the ratings for that slot. Maybe. Or they might have felt it was a way to kill him off. He was WAY too progressive. Between Hayes and MHP, that was four hours of progressive politics. Kornacki is no Joe Scarborough, to be sure...but his show features almost as many right-wing guests as David Gregory. He doesn't have the chops to fight back, as Chris Hayes did (does). Kornacki is a nobody that rose to stardom very, very fast. I get the impression he'll say anything he's told to say, because he's young, impressionable, wants to build his career, raising a family, whatever...just give him a paycheck. I didn't get that impression from Hayes. He took chances, he fought back...and he was relegated to a wasteland time slot for his efforts.
