Not said with pride, but more with shame and revulsion.
We are pathetic beings who don't deserve the planet we've been given.
As long as it is OK for some to say "I've got mine, you can fend for yourself", we are doomed as a race.

I just saw "Jesus Christ Superstar" at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA again last night and it is just as relevant today as it was in 1972. (Fantastic performance and innovative staging, I'd thoroughly recommend going if you can get a ticket. It's a very small theatre, only about 100 seats, and there's only 6 more performances).
The greed, the indifference, the unwillingness of politicians to do anything difficult, it's all right there in a story 2000 years old. I despair sometimes.
