My wife was at work and I texted my wife that our one cat finally jumpped onto on bed and laid down for a while.
This is our all white cat who let's face it is afraid of his own shadow and well has basically been camped out in our living room since we moved to the new place. except the first day and a half when he hid under the bed.
Anyways I sent her the Text:
Snowy got brave and got on the bed
Wife gets a second text she swears 5 minutes later stating:
I was at a lady's house here in town who had her homemade gloryhole. It was awesome.
The text indicated it came from my phone BUT I was home all day and have not gone anywhere. I don't even know what a gloryhole is. My wife has a simple flip phone and I do have a smart phone.
Can anyone honestly help us.

(3,121 posts)I didn't text that to my wife. can a smart phone be hacked as I am thinking or could it have been a mis text like someone texted my wife by mistake BUT it doesn't explain my phone number as sending the text.

(62,444 posts)Maybe you blacked out for a while and don't know you sent it.
The "I got hacked" thing didn't work out for Anthony Weiner.
Or, hide some valuables in the house, and discover them to be "stolen". Then, it musta been the thieves!

She's going to check the bill at the end of the month, you know.
But sure, it happens all the time. Just the other day, my wife was out shopping and she got a text from my phone that said, "Yeah, she's out shopping. Come over for a quickie."
No idea how that happened.

(13,877 posts)alarming, two came in at the same time, but mainly just really strange texts. She about fell off her chair when I called and read them to her. Didn't save it. Never happened again.

(1,456 posts)at your expense. There are lots of easy ways to hack a cell phone. For instance, Google phone clone.

(157 posts)to the person I was getting ready to meet canceling our appointment. The text read "in a meeting, will call you later", which is a generic text in the phone. The really weird thing was that I had not called this person at all during the two days before. The phone was in my console in the car and sent the message while I was driving to see him. He got the message and left to do other things. I had to wait 1/2 hour for him to come back. So my cell phone sent a text to the person I was getting ready to meet canceling our meeting. Another time I was leaving a message on my friend's cell phone voicemail when I was interrupted by a strange, weird garbled voice saying something I couldn't understand. I'm still trying to figure out where it came from.
Cell phones can certainly do some strange things sometimes.

(34,857 posts)The only thing that comes remotely close to that is my phone used to send texts to random numbers. Like, I'd write out a text and hit send - but it wouldn't send to the person I thought I was sending it to. It'd find a random message in my inbox and send it to them. It created some awkward and embarrassing moments. Eventually, I read it was a bug for the certain phone (Droid Thunderbolt) and fixed it.

(34,857 posts)1) Check what apps you've downloaded. Sometimes, you can download a third-party app that will overtake your phone and do stuff like this (just like it can do on your home computer). Make sure your apps are all from the official store (whether it's Apple or Google).
2) What kind of phone do you have? Google it and see if anyone else is having the same problem.
3) Do you know of it ever happening before?
4) Are you using the default text messaging program? I know you can download apps to do text messaging like WhatsItApp.

(108,955 posts)asking what it was, when I realized that I probably should ignore it -- maybe someone was fishing to see if this was a real number?
The thing is, I don't do business with my smart phone and hardly anyone has this number, except for family and a few friends.
The message reads
753-5
Payment Confirmation #43 (bunch of letters) for $xxx paid 11/09/13 noted to account # (bunch of numbers) on 11/09/13.
Wouldn't a legit business identify itself?

(157 posts)I don't download apps. at all. I only use the phone for calls and texting. I never get on the internet. I've have never had anything like this happen before with any cell phone.

(3,729 posts)It showed that it came from a friend who texts me often. It went something like "yeah we can get a hotel lol" This friend always uses capitalization and punctuation in her texts, and I've never known her to use something like "lol."

I got it while shaving; had the cell phone lying on the windowsill in my bathroom. When I dressed and went downstairs and asked her about it, she had no idea what I was talking about. So I texted them back, telling them that hacking my wife's Twitter account wasn't exactly a recommendation for going in on their scheme.
